Madinah Book Reader PDF: FREE DOWNLOAD & PRINTABLE
Our teaching method:
- For the initial introduction, I introduce the page to them by reading out loud as they follow along so that they can learn the pronunciation.
- I then have them read each phrase or vocabulary term one by one after me.
- When they are confident with the pronunciation of the words. I give them the vocabulary cards for the unit.
- They will write the vocabulary words 10 times or 5 times each from Sunday through Thursday.
- These words will be written while looking at the illustrated vocabulary cards. They are reading CVC words in English but not yet on the level where they can read the translation for the more difficult words. So the pictures serve as a translation for them at this age.
- We do NOT return to the unit in the book until they have MEMORIZED ALL of the vocabulary. This is the MOST IMPORTANT STEP in my opinion.
Food for thought: If children are trying to learn vocabulary and core concepts at the same time. This will make the book more difficult. This can even be difficult for an adult. To keep the language learning simple and enjoyable, assign one expectation at a time. Vocabulary memorization and then concept comprehension. Now the children have the ability to focus on the concept of the lesson or the use of the word.
- so the number one concern is memorizing the unit vocabulary before we begin focusing on the lesson concepts.
PAGE ONE LESSON CONCEPT:
- This page is demonstrating to the children how to point something out and name it.
- Essentially the children have just learned how to begin speaking about a concrete noun and subject of a sentence.
- This is an essential lesson that sets a foundation that they will build on when they begin making more advanced sentence structures.
—This is.....a house.
—This is .....a bed.
A note to Mom or Dad:
A note to Mom or Dad:
- Be sure to emphasize the sound of tanween at the end of the word.
- the sound of Tanween "oon" represents the way we speak about one specific thing.
- It is comparable to our use of “a” or “an” in the English language.
- If you emphasize the pronunciation of the case endings from the first lesson it will help them to more quickly grasp the changes and concepts to come.
The Goal:
Mom or Dad, right now your goal is for your children to memorize the vocabulary words on page one. the term (hadtha - this is) is a part of that vocabulary. You now have 9 Vocabulary words and 1 term.

HOMEWORK:
You can incorporate any means to help your children learn the vocabulary in a fun and easy way, but writing the vocabulary should and saying the words as they write should be a small portion of their day every day. - write the words and terms 3-10X's each depending on their age and ability would be a reasonable expectation.
- Review vocabulary flash card
- Incorporate these words as a replacement in their mother language
Example: Tom, get in your sareer (bed).Saying "sareer" and other Arabic words in replacement of "bed" will help your children to build a long term connection and clear understanding of these vocabulary words in their everyday routine.
WE CAN DO IT!!
